Community project to assess the presence of youth friendly SRHR services in a hospital in Wakiso District, Uganda. 2023/2024

In a community plagued by high rates of teen pregnancy and HIV/AIDS infection, I led a team to conduct focus groups and key informant interviews with young girls, village health workers, and selected health care providers to assess the presence and use of youth-friendly SRHR services. This exercise was carried out at a number of health care facilities in the Wakiso district. The FGDs and KIIs yielded valuable information that will serve as a policy advocacy tool as well as inform targeted interventions to address some of the challenges raised by participants. Access to basic SRHR services is extremely important for young girls, particularly in preventing unplanned pregnancies and unsafe abortions.
