I led a team of volunteers to proactively reach out to households in the Penda Mboko community to carryout a door-to-door health education to he inhabitants. We used local pidgin language to educate them on HIV/AIDS as the community has a high HIV prevalence. We also educated them on how to prevent malaria and this was backed up by free distribution of mosquito nets to some of the participants and proper information on how to appropriately use these nets as we noticed most of them used these nets for preserving their vegetables and fishing. This grassroots initiative brought essential health literacy to people’s doorsteps, fostering a more informed and proactive community.
